The plight of abandoned children on the streets of Kadapa, a drought and a faction ridden district in South India, motivated a few like-minded citizens of the town to open a children’s home. The aim was to bring up a few such children as our own giving them a home, an education and most importantly of all, love.

Vijay Foundation Trust (VFT) was thus formed in 1992 and it established Aarti Home to care for such abandoned children. Aarti home has been the primary focus of all VFT activities ever since.

Today, they have 80 children under their care. Furthermore, for the past 10 years they have been working towards reducing the causes of child abandonment, especially amongst girls. They have initiated several vocational training and awareness building programmes for women in the district. Educational programmes focusing on attaining job skills have been started for the youth and women. Today the work of VFT impacts more than 20,000 women and children in South India.
